Description: Historic Fire Station No.6 · Atlanta, Georgia
Fire station NO. 6 was built in 1894 and served the "Sweet Auburn" community until 1991. It is Atlanta's oldest standing firehouse and is now a museum that tells the story of desegregation in 1963 of the city's fire department. Fire Station No. 6 is part of the Preservation District which helps to maintain the historic integrity of Sweet Auburn. Pictured here is a 1927 American LaFrance fire engine, a type that young Martin would have seen.

[The back of the card doesn't mention that this fire station is next to Martin Luther King Jr's home...but mattcorey told us!]
