Crying crying crying

Well...the crying it out worked, sort of. Jocelyn isn't sleeping through the night, she still complains when it's time to go to bed or have a nap, but she's sleeping longer stretches. Which is good. Because at about 45 minutes between sleeps, I was starting to turn into a zombie. I'm sure I made no sense when I talked and I know I repeated myself over and over (thank goodness I mostly hang out with Alex!). We are going to try again when we're in Kelowna next month. There's a house there without neighbours who share walls and I can go into a different part of the house and not hear her so well...not like at home where everything is all together and there's no getting away from the crying unless I shut myself in Jocelyn's bathroom (hmmm...there's an idea, there is a bath tub in there!)

Oh yeah, it's hard...

but the reward at the end is very motivating! We did alright last night - once she finally fell asleep (I did go in after half an hour, but she got to stay in her crib), she only woke up one more time and we all got to sleep in until 8:30...it's getting better.

And nap time this morning was an improvement too...she went down at 9:55 and she was asleep by 10:40, so only 45 minutes and not a lot of crying. I wonder how long she'll sleep though!

I'm going for my nap now...

That's all!

Is this hard or what!

Baby J is crying it out tonight...she's been waking up when she rolls from her tummy to her back and has needed Mommy or Daddy rocking her to get her to go to sleep again...tonight I decided I'd try crying it out because I'd like to start sleeping more than 45 minutes at a time again. Last night she was up at least once an hour...usually because she'd just rolled over.

I can hear her crying very well right now as both doors are open and it's alternating between little whimpers and angry why aren't you holding me screeches. I know it's not her teeth - it's a completely different cry...hopefully this will work...it's been 10 minutes and I'm going crazy. We've tried crying it out a bit in the last few weeks, but never more than 15 minutes....so I'm trying for half an hour tonight, but we'll see. It certainly doesn't help that we have neighbours she is potentially keeping up.

Oh and just to make it worse, she's started crying mum mum mum now...but the cries are quieter and the quiet periods are getting longer...maybe it's actually working?!?!?!

Out with the old

When I moved to the hobbit hole, oh, six years ago, my mom brought me these lamps. I think they might have been in our house at some point...my grandma picked them up at a garage sale. I got the lamps because I had nothing. Well, not nothing. I had a bed and a dresser and a desk. I might have had two little lights. But that's it. Nothing else cause I'd always lived with someone who had all the other stuff. And the lights had atrocious shades.

I don't know if you can even see the difference in these pictures, but the shades are not the same. They are different sizes and different colours and have different decoration bits on them. And the liner pieces are ripped (you can sort of see that in the first picture) and one had the trim held on by a safety pin.

new shade
Last night, I finally got new shades for them...something I've been swearing I'll do for, oh, six years. And they match.
