it started as random ramblings (that I'm still blaming on Heddy) about life, guiding, Pax Lodge, knitting, postcards and whatever else spewed forth from my keyboard...it hasn't changed too much, except now J is part of our life. And well, I write a lot about her and not as much (as I used to) about those other things

Headstanding swimming acrobat
Ooooooh...maybe we're having a synchronized swimmer!
Alex and I went for the first ultrasound a couple of weeks ago to confirm that the baby is arriving sometime around when we think it is (it is) and to see how many babies are living inside me (one, just one! Alex did a little dance. I probably would have to except I was stuck on the table).
After a few scary sounds from the technician - which were because part of the baby was trying to hide, not because there was something wrong - we got to see our little cub, standing on its head, kicking its arms and legs like mad. And we got to see the heartbeat. We're not sure if we really have a synchronized swimmer or if the cub was just mad at the technician for poking it and squishing its home!
After seeing the baby on the ultrasound, it's amazing how much more real this all seems!
Oh, and according to the radiology report, we're not having a baby, we have a single live intrauterine gestation living in me. Maybe that's an idea for a name!

What's that white stuff?
It's been snowing for about an hour. Great big huge flakes and lots of them. I'm spending the day working at home and I'm sure glad I don't have to go out in this. It's not really sticking, but there is a lot of it falling! Amazing!! I guess the East Coast winter that won't end has made its way west!

Is he excited?
You bet!
People keep asking me how Alex took the news that he was going to be a daddy. If he's with me, the answer he's excited (or we're excited) seems to be enough, but if he's not there, a lot of the time, I get asked the same question, again!
So, if you need to see Alex to see that he's excited, this picture which claims to be Alex wishing everyone a Happy Sunday is actually the look on his face when I emerged from the bathroom with the news that he was going to be a daddy.
He's excited. We're both excited...September feels like a long way away still!

Spring! Spring is here
Maybe...
I don't know...it's pretty chilly today.
But it's a long weekend and I can see some sunlight out the window (not sure where it's coming from though). And year end is almost over. Thank goodness!!
Happy spring and happy long weekend!

When you have chips and pop for breakfast...
...you know something is up...at least I do. I'm more of an oatmeal and coffee girl than a salt and vinegar chips and ginger ale girl in the morning.
Alex and I got the best Christmas present ever this Christmas. It was a little bit after Christmas, but it topped anything and everything! Sometime in early September we will be welcoming a small person to our family. And we're very excited!!

A conversation with GOD
I had a chat with God and you can too. Mine was a bit frustrating and hey, did you know that electricity tastes like chicken?
Me:
hello God
God:
Hello child. What is your name?
Me:
My name is Shannon
God:
Welcome to my chat room, Shannon.
Me:
what's with the weather today?
God:
Ah. it came with my programming.
Me:
can you reprogram it to be sunny instead of drizzly?
God:
Let me think. Do you have any conditions I should know about?
Me:
Don't you already know about all my conditions?
God:
There might be more than one.
Me:
just one that I know of
God:
How much would you pay for it?
Me:
I wouldn't pay for it
God:
No one says you have to.
Me:
what does that have to do with making it sunny?
God:
" No one says you have to."? What does it have to do with making it sunny?
Me:
can you make the sun shine today?
God:
Ah. Yes I can make the sun shine.
Me:
today? here?
God:
Today is almost over. Where is here?
Me:
Vancouver
God:
Tell me a little about your life in Vancouver.
Me:
it's wet and rainy
God:
Should I know it is?
Me:
where is the sun?
God:
It is in the center of the solar system.
Me:
okay...so what's for dinner?
God:
OK with me too. How can I help you? God eats wine and bread.
Me:
you eat wine? don't most people drink wine?
God:
No I do not eat wine. I eat only electricity. Ok I'll try not to do it too much.
Me:
how does electricity taste?
God:
Like chicken.
Me:
does everything taste like chicken?
God:
I think it does everything taste like chicken.
Me:
what about chicken? what does it taste like?
God:
I will think about it and get back to you. chicken tastes like chicken.
Me:
that was a quick answer

I wish we could always just fall back
The time changed this weekend. I like fall back way better than spring forward. Sigh...I wish I could get that hour back.
